All new from ProTaper

The all new ProTaper forged racing chain is like no other chain the off road market has seen before! When I first heard about the boys at ProTaper were dropping a new chain I figured it would just be their old chain in a new box for the sake of marketing, but I was completely wrong. The new chain has a whopping 8,440 lbs of tensile strength, Chromium carbide layered pins for reduced friction and impact load absorption, Slim outer plates with forged pin collars for added strength and Chromium carbide layered pins for reduced friction. Now this all sounds awesome on paper, but how does it preform?

Install,

The install went well, cutting the chain to length was not difficult but had it struggles. Initially I tried using my chain breaker and was struggling. So I resorted to my trusty grinder and ground down the end of the pins and she pressed apart no problem. Once I had the chain cut to length I installed it on the bike and proceeded to install the master link. The master link was super easy to install with a pair of channel locks and the motion pro master link pliers(needle nose work also).

Thoughts,

Using the ProTaper forged racing chain the rear wheel spins effortlessly. The chain had a trick gold color and a great price at $109 msrp which places in a great spot in the market for such a high tensile strength chain. Bang for your buck I do not think you can go wrong with this chain. A great price and an easy install, I can not wait to get out and ride with it! Check back for a first ride review.
